Pren's Story

@prenwales.co.uk, we believe in handmade products that support collaborative and sustainable design.

We are a small team, consisting of me, Donna and my husband Adam.

Pren was born during the first lockdown of the 2020 pandemic....mainly due to Adam, a multi-skilled tradesman, being furloughed and bored at home.

The lockdown did not affect my work as a dementia support worker for the NHS, but curiosity got me experimenting with epoxy resin techniques during the evening and on weekends.

We had recently married and made everything by way of venue decoration ourselves! There were a few raised eyebrows when we first mentioned this, people thought we were being too ambitious having no previous experience.

However, on the day everything looked perfect, with Adam's handcrafted connect four, silencing even our harshest critics!

We had a lovely piece of oak and we asked our brother-in-law to fractal burn a tree into the oak with the idea being that we would provide leaves for guests to sign or leave a note.

Our October wedding was autumn-themed, with burnt orange featuring heavily....this is where we discovered epoxy resin! We filled the fractal tree with burnt orange resin, and the rest, as they say, is history!!

We found we worked well as a team, Adam's rational thinking,  pragmatism and skill were somehow complemented by my ambition, drive and creativity.

Nurturing a strong work ethic, and encouraged by family and friends we decided to take the plunge, going live with Pren on the 31st of October 2020.

We haven't had time to look back since!

We deeply respect the traditional work techniques of artisans and the time it takes to make each product to order and by hand.

However, work is not our only concern. As a committed Artisan Online Homeware Store, we try to create strong emotional ties within the community we work in.

We strengthen our ties by integrating with other small, local businesses, all hoping to reach economic independence through their craft.
